We are AstroTeam, a group of students of the course CC5408: Video Game Design and Development Workshop of the University of Chile:

We are thrilled to finally introduce our game Astro Fighters to you.

You may be wondering, what is Astro Fighters? It's an innovative 3D local multiplayer fighting game set in the vastness of outer space, where players experience combat in a zero gravity environment. The game features two astronauts who can move freely in any direction within the map. 

The objective is simple yet exciting, defeat your opponent by damaging with close combat attacks, the last astronaut standing is declared as the winner. Invite a friend over and relive the excitement of classic local multiplayer as you and your friend enjoy fast paced, strategic combat as you punch, dodge, and chase each other. Embrace the nostalgia of couch gaming and experience the silliest space brawl ever!

Our goal during the development of this game was to create an immersive and unique fighting game experience in a zero gravity environment, for this we took inspiration from the “Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi” game for its local multiplayer system, which guided the development of our camera mechanics. 

Later on, given the complexity of the movements the characters follow while being in zero gravity, and recognizing the limitations of using a keyboard, we decided to make Astro Fighters playable with joystick controls to enhance the gameplay experience, this way characters move continuously in their last directed path until the player actively intervenes, adding a strategic layer to the game since players move in spherical coordinates, always focusing on each other ensuring they never lose sight of their opponent. 

We believe these unique mechanics offer a refreshing and exciting challenge that will captivate players, ensuring a fun and unforgettable gaming experience. We invite you to join the exciting world of Astro Fighters, dive into the ultimate zero gravity showdown today!
